Dialed In — Espresso Tracker
Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 23, 2026
Key takeaway: Dialed In is designed with privacy at its core. All of your espresso data is stored locally on your device by default. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to your personal data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data You Create in the App
When you use Dialed In, you may enter data related to your espresso shots, including grind settings, dose weights, extraction times, tasting notes, and bean information. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party.
1.2 iCloud Sync (Optional, In-App Purchase)
If you purchase and enable the iCloud Sync feature, your espresso data is synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit framework. When iCloud Sync is enabled:
- Your espresso data is transmitted to and stored on Apple's iCloud servers, associated with your personal Apple ID.
- We do not operate or control Apple's iCloud infrastructure. Apple's handling of your iCloud data is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy and iCloud Terms of Service.
- We do not have access to your iCloud account or the data stored within it.
- You may disable iCloud Sync at any time in the App's settings. Disabling sync does not delete data already stored in iCloud; you may manage or delete that data through your device's iCloud settings.
1.3 Support Requests
If you contact us for support through our website support form, you may voluntarily provide your name and email address so that we can respond to your inquiry. This information is collected solely for the purpose of addressing your support request and is not used for marketing, advertising, or any other purpose. We do not link support request information to any data within the App.
1.4 Information We Do Not Collect
Other than information you voluntarily provide when submitting a support request, we do not collect any of the following through the App:
- Account or login credentials (the App does not require an account)
- Usage or analytics data
- Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
- Cookies or tracking technologies
We do not use any third-party analytics services, advertising frameworks, or tracking SDKs within the App.
2. How We Use Information
All espresso data you create in the App exists solely on your device (and in your personal iCloud account, if you choose to enable iCloud Sync). We have no means to access, process, or analyze your in-app data.
If you submit a support request, we use your name and email address only to respond to your inquiry. We do not use this information for any other purpose.
3. How We Share Information
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any user data with third parties. Because we do not collect user data, there is no data for us to share. The only transfer of data occurs if you enable iCloud Sync, in which case your data is transmitted directly between your device and Apple's iCloud servers under Apple's privacy policy.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all App data is stored locally on your device (and optionally in your iCloud account), you have full control over your data at all times:
- Local data: You may delete your espresso data at any time from within the App, or by deleting the App from your device.
- iCloud data: If you have enabled iCloud Sync, you may manage or delete your synced data through your device's iCloud storage settings (Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage).
- Support correspondence: If you have contacted us for support, we retain your name, email address, and the content of your correspondence for a reasonable period to resolve your inquiry and for reference in case of follow-up questions. You may request deletion of your support correspondence at any time by contacting us.
We do not operate servers that store in-app user data.
5. Data Security
Your locally stored data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including device encryption and passcode/biometric protection. If you use iCloud Sync, your data in transit and at rest is protected by Apple's encryption protocols. We encourage you to keep your device software up to date and to use a strong passcode or biometric lock.
6. Children's Privacy
Dialed In is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not collect any personal data from any user, there is no risk of inadvertent collection of children's data. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
7. International Data Transfers
We do not transfer your data internationally because we do not collect or store your data. If you enable iCloud Sync, Apple may store or process your data in locations outside your country of residence in accordance with Apple's data transfer policies.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you reside, you may have certain rights regarding personal data. Because Dialed In does not collect personal data through the App, these rights are effectively satisfied by design. For transparency, we describe the relevant legal frameworks below.
8.1 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the GDPR and equivalent local laws grant you certain rights regarding personal data, including the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and objection. The App itself does not collect or process your personal data. Your espresso data remains entirely under your control on your device and (optionally) in your personal iCloud account.
If you submit a support request, the legal basis for processing your name and email address is our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You may exercise your rights with respect to this data — including requesting access, correction, or deletion — by contacting us using the details in Section 13 below.
8.2 California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the CCPA (as amended by the CPRA) provides you with specific rights regarding personal information. We disclose the following for transparency:
- Categories of personal information collected: If you submit a support request, we collect identifiers (name and email address) solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not collect personal information through the App itself.
- Sale or sharing of personal information: We do not sell or share your personal information and have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
- Right to know, delete, and correct: Because we collect no personal information through the App, there is nothing to disclose, delete, or correct on our end. If you have submitted a support request, you may request access to or deletion of that correspondence.
- Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.
If you wish to make a verifiable consumer request, you may contact us using the details in Section 13.
8.3 California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)
In accordance with CalOPPA, we disclose the following:
- Users may visit and use the App without being required to provide personal information.
- This Privacy Policy is accessible from within the App and from our website.
- Do Not Track signals: The App does not track user activity across third-party websites or services and does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals, as there is no tracking to disable.
- We do not allow third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your online activities through the App.
- If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date and post a notice within the App.
9. In-App Purchases
Dialed In offers an optional in-app purchase to unlock iCloud Sync functionality. All in-app purchase transactions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. Apple's handling of your purchase and payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the App Store Terms of Service.
10. Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party service involved is Apple's iCloud (via CloudKit), which is used solely when you opt in to the iCloud Sync feature. We encourage you to review Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles iCloud data.
11. Links to Other Websites
The App may contain links to external websites or services that are not operated by us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and post a notice within the App. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
